Clomid Cost: Generic Prices, Coupons and Insurance Coverage

Clomid cost is one of the lowest in fertility treatment, especially for the generic version. When we checked GoodRx on 30 September 2026, its page stated: "Get Clomiphene for as low as $17.31, which is 69% off the average retail price of $56.67 for the most common version." Pharmacy prices on the same page ranged from $14.91 to $74.17, with the lowest figures shown for members of GoodRx's paid Companion plan.

Those Clomid cost figures describe generic clomiphene citrate, the same active ingredient as brand Clomid. The brand costs more. The default GoodRx page for Clomid showed $156.00 at several large chains, and the manufacturer's savings card states that "commercially insured patients with coverage for this drug may pay as little as $70 per prescription."

Prices move often and depend on the pharmacy, the city and the number of tablets. The figures here are a snapshot from one date, not a quote. What does not change is the structure: generic is far cheaper than brand, discount coupons can cut the cash price sharply, and insurance coverage depends heavily on the state you live in. Clomid is a brand name; the generic drug is clomiphene citrate. Both contain the same mix of two isomers, enclomiphene and zuclomiphene, and generic versions must meet FDA standards for the same active ingredient and strength. For most patients, generic clomiphene is the practical choice on price.

The brand still exists. The current Clomid label on DailyMed, revised in August 2023, lists Cosette Pharmaceuticals. In October 2023, Cosette announced a partnership with the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company to make brand Clomid more affordable. The Cost Plus site lists Clomid 50 mg in packs of 10 or 30 tablets, but the price is only shown at checkout, so we could not confirm a current figure.

The brand savings card only applies to commercially insured patients whose plan covers the drug. People paying cash usually get the lowest Clomid price through a generic prescription and a discount coupon.

The Clomid cost of a full course depends on the dose and the number of cycles, both set by the prescribing doctor. The FDA label gives the standard schedule for ovulation induction in women.

The label states that increasing the dose or duration "beyond 100 mg/day for 5 days is not recommended" and that "long-term cyclic therapy is not recommended beyond a total of about six cycles." So under the label, a full course runs from 5 tablets for a single low-dose cycle up to about 60 tablets for six cycles at 100 mg. In the label's clinical studies of 7,578 women, about 30% became pregnant.

Whether insurance covers the Clomid cost depends mostly on state law and the specific plan. According to RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, in a page updated on 28 September 2026, 25 states have laws that provide some insurance coverage for infertility, 15 have IVF mandates and 22 have fertility preservation mandates. The rules differ widely. New York, for example, requires policies that cover prescription drugs to include FDA-approved drugs for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility.

Clomid is FDA approved for ovulatory dysfunction in women who want to become pregnant, which is the kind of drug a mandate such as New York's refers to. Letrozole, which is often used instead for PCOS, is approved only for breast cancer, so its fertility use is off label.

For people without coverage, the Clomid price without insurance can still be kept low. The practical steps are to ask for a generic prescription, compare coupon prices at several pharmacies, and check whether a pharmacy's own discount program beats the coupon. Monitoring, such as ultrasound scans and blood tests, adds its own cost, which varies by clinic and is worth asking about in advance.

Before filling, compare the coupon price with your plan's copay and use whichever is lower. For a single course of generic clomiphene, a free coupon can bring the Clomid cost close to the lowest listed price, and a paid membership only makes sense if it saves more than it costs across all your prescriptions.

Be careful with websites offering Clomid without a prescription or "over the counter". The Clomid label marks it "Rx only", and products bought without a prescription carry no guarantee of content or dose.

Men use the same generic tablets, prescribed off label for low testosterone or low sperm counts. The regimens in published studies are lower and more continuous than the women's cycle schedule. Katz and colleagues (BJU International, 2012) started men on 25 mg daily, raising to 50 mg daily if needed, and 70% ended on 25 mg. A 2025 study by Anno and colleagues used 50 mg every other day.

At 25 mg daily, a month uses the equivalent of about fifteen 50 mg tablets, and 50 mg every other day works out to the same count. That is several times more tablets per month than one fertility cycle, so the monthly Clomid cost for men is higher, which makes coupons and generic pricing more important for men on long-term treatment.
